I was super-skeptical at the beginning of this movie -- it's very obviously low-budget, and I'm not big on the found-footage subgenre generally. Turned out to be totally worth watching. The filmmaker(s) understood horror and it showed.

Too heavy-handed and slow, just not quite interesting. Wendigo "ghosts" didn't make sense within their own mythos, and the attempted Resident Evil-style ending flopped.

My least favorite Universal Monsters franchise, for many reasons, but not terrible. It's really nice to just listen to Boris Karloff talk, what a great voice. Also contains another White Zombie sample!

OH DANG -- This was good. The monster was epic (love the wendigo), and even though it was only fully revealed in about the last quarter of the film, the horror was appreciable throughout (psychological and sociological). Well done.

The Blob (1988)

Went on a monster movie bender: Tremors, Jaws, Rodan... then realized I've never seen The Blob remake, even though I really like the Steve McQueen original (enough to own a DVD copy).

So totally worth watching! Fantastic remake! Really expanded the horror of the organism, and great practical effects.

Troll (1986)

Not too much horror, really, dollars-to-donuts... more fantasy adventure... but it's ridiculous and fun. I love all the greasy, drippy, grotesque little doofy muppet creatures.😆 Watch "Harry Potter Jr." (try to) save the day!

OMFG there's so much stupid wrong with this movie 😂 including the lamest car chase ever filmed (probably). However, the irony of the "Independent Thinkers" television program is creepy AF.

Mimic (1997)

Great movie to watch for Twosday! Unique story concept and excellent monsters --- would expect no less for a Guillermo del Toro flick. Great practical effects, and those early-days digital effects held up really well, too.

This was a snooze-fest for the first 3/4.
The last 1/4 was not that great, either, just had actual monster in it.
...and I have no idea why this movie is called "Prophecy", that word has nothing to do with the content.🤷
