This is the 3rd time I've watched this, and it's official: it's now one of my favorites (wish I could buy a damn DVD of it).

It's got some In the Mouth of Madness vibes, IMO. There was even a thunderstorm that rolled in this afternoon while watching and made the ambiance fantastic!

Post Mortem (2020)

This movie has probably the most mixed reviews ever, but I really enjoyed it. The English overdub on the DVD was awful so I turned it off in lieu of subtitles and I'm glad I did, much better.

There are creepy corpses doing very undead things, and people being snatched into the air and tossed about like ragdolls. Maybe the acting isn't great, but I can deal with that just fine for some good haunts.

One definitely noticeable issue, tho, is the "questionable intentions" of the man with this 10yo girl who ends up being his sidekick -- it's low-key cringey FOR SURE, but doesn't seem malicious. They're connected by death and resurrection, and end up being a paranormal team.

I think maybe a lot of people who don't get what's overall happening in this film just have never heard of a psychopomp. That would explain a lot of confusion/complaints I've seen like "this-and-that is ridiculous and doesn't make any sense at all", well it does make sense if you know about psychopomps.

Another solid werewolf flick for this Horrorthon season!

This was good overall, and in a way I didn't expect -- surprisingly heavy on the feels, at times, so be ready for that. Some very cool and disorienting effects and overlays in the opening credits. Jim Cummings plays neurotic like a master. Sadly, this was apparently Robert Forster's last movie role (RIP).

Ghosts of War (2020)

Really great concept, initial mysterious happenings were intriguing, but otherwise, unfortunately, film was very poorly executed. CGI effects were sub-par, acting left much to be desired, sci-fi reveal was desperately over-the-top.

Attack of the Demons (2020)

My teenage son got a kick out of this, but I'm pretty sure in an ironic way. Amateur production, and the results reflect that, especially the dialogue and voice-acting.

12 Hour Shift (2020)

I was not expecting much, but this turned out to be pretty enjoyable. I recommend watching with at least 1 other person to get the most out of it. I'm also going to seek out more Angela Bettis flicks -- loved her in May, then lost track of her completely until now.

⚠️Trigger warning for... everyone.⚠️

Wow, I can absolutely see why there was controversy about releasing this film in the current political climate. It contains over-the-top stereotyping of BOTH extremes of our two-party system, and a ridiculous fictional conspiracy scenario run AMOK. Betty Gilpin is A👏MA👏ZING👏, the dark humor is first-rate, and there's a good twist at the end.

P.S. You can find reviews posted by people from both political parties saying this movie is revenge porn for the other side 😂 Now that's some good satire! #offendeveryone

The Grudge (2020)

Even more atmospheric and story-driven than the 2004 version, same amount of jump-scares. But their use of the "spectres" was not as effective as the original -- too...overt. Not quite subtle enough to be the same level of creepy.

The Invisible Man (2020)

I usually avoid watching horror movies in September to cleanse my palate for October Horrorthon, and that's what I was trying to do with this new Invisible Man remake: I thought it was just a sci-fi thriller... but wow, this movie is hella disturbing.
