It was a bold move to use 2 of the main actors from the original as different characters in this sequel, but it worked out -- they are fantastic at freaking out, and not gonna lie, I love watching a masterful horror freakout.😂 On the whole, this was nowhere near as good as the first Return of the Living Dead, but it was a sequel worth watching.

Tonight's pizza movie night double-feature is brought to me by Friday the 13th, with recommendations from my Facebook horror group.💀
While researching, I realized for the first time that *8* Friday the 13th films were released 1980-1989, that's almost 1 per year! Seems like that alone would make Jason the king of 80's slashers. 👑

More mystery, thriller, and even drama components than I expected -- actually gave the movie some good depth.

I never watched this as a kid, so I don't have any nostalgic connection to it at all. That being said: it was hard to sit through the incredibly cheesy Hallmark-channel-level 80's heartfelt treacle that comprised a good 50% of the movie. Almost made me quit a couple times. But then there are some genuinely frightening scenes, like a little girl getting strangled to death by an invisible assailant. There was also a surprising amount of heavy content relating to race relations (was this a "kid's" movie?!). In the end, I made it through the whole thing, the guy I figured was the killer from the beginning turned out to be the killer, and I'll probably never watch this again.

Went on a monster movie bender: Tremors, Jaws, Rodan... then realized I've never seen The Blob remake, even though I really like the Steve McQueen original (enough to own a DVD copy).
So totally worth watching! Fantastic remake! Really expanded the horror of the organism, and great practical effects.

OMFG there's so much stupid wrong with this movie 😂 including the lamest car chase ever filmed (probably). However, the irony of the "Independent Thinkers" television program is creepy AF.

Back on track! Turns out: Michael and Loomis were NOT burned to death in a fiery explosion at the hospital back in 1978! 😱
This one's rough because he's after his little niece, and she's so messed up from it. Also, the kids at her school are dicks! and isn't that bad enough without your boogeyman uncle trying to kill you?! Gets me right in the feels.

Bribed my children with ice cream to watch this with me, and it worked!
We talked about how I was about the same age as the kid in the movie when it was released in 1988, and pretty sure I had an almost identical snowsuit.
Side note: Brad Dourif is a national treasure.
