Return of the Living Dead Part II (1988)

🎃 Horrorthon 2023 #33 🔥 35th Anniversary

It was a bold move to use 2 of the main actors from the original as different characters in this sequel, but it worked out -- they are fantastic at freaking out, and not gonna lie, I love watching a masterful horror freakout.😂 On the whole, this was nowhere near as good as the first Return of the Living Dead, but it was a sequel worth watching.

🎃 Horrorthon 2023 #32

This was just baaaaaad 😂 even with Henry Rollins in it.
They made SIX of these movies! I'm not going any further.👎😝

🎃 Horrorthon 2023 #9 🔥 20th Anniversary

  20th anniversary showing in theater!
Just as much of a wild & crazy ride as I remember, lol.

There was an introduction by Rob Zombie, in which he says the house they used was the same one from The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, so I'm gonna have to check that out.

🎃 Horrorthon 2023 #4 🔥 90th Anniversary

This was alright for being 90 years old! Actually pretty cool to see all the invisible-movement effects they were able to pull off back then.

Ju-on: The Grudge (2002)

🎃 Horrorthon 2023 #3.3

This was very disappointing.
Not scary; boring; seemed more like a Scary Movie spoof than the original version of one of my favorite horror movies. Maybe I didn't give it enough of a chance: I couldn't even finish it, only got about 1/3 of the way through. From what I did watch, it appears the 2004 American remake used the original storyline and structure, just made it 1000-times more scary and interesting.

SO DUMB 😂 but srsly, how did Warwick Davis go from Willow to THIS?! He was a creepy-AF leprechaun, gotta at least give him that much.

More mystery, thriller, and even drama components than I expected -- actually gave the movie some good depth.

Sleepaway Camp (1983)

🔥 40th Anniversary

I know this movie is a "cult classic" or whatever, but it is hot garbage.😂
I'm glad I didn't bother saving it for my Halloween Horrorthon.

The composition of most of the scenes sucks; the character interactions and dialogue are so forced and unnatural; the acting is terrible, and half of the actors that are supposed to be "kids" are probably old enough to drink... it's just painful to watch.

Then my husband's like, "well we have to watch the 2nd one now", and I couldn't even make it 10 minutes into it. 😂 I didn't want to waste any more of my life.

The Hills Have Eyes (1977)

Since it's been hot as hell this week, I figured it was a perfect time to watch the original Hills Have Eyes for the first time. Wes Craven just KNOWS how to make things disturbing.

Happy Death Day 2U (2019)

Rewatched Happy Death Day this weekend, so figured what-the-hell, might as well check out the sequel. Lots of exposition about why the loop(s) happen/ed. These movies are just barely in the horror category, but this 2nd one even moreso removed, with all the sci-fi going on.

Ouija (2014)

Never understood why this movie gets such a bad rap. Sure, it's nothing groundbreaking in the Teen Scream arena, but it at least deserves to be higher up in the barrel. It's got spooky atmosphere, jump scares, a mystery to unravel, and even Lin Shaye! Come on! Overall it's an enjoyable, popcorn, watch-with-friends-in-a-dark-room kinda horror flick.

Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984)

I read "The Final Girl Support Group" earlier this year, and this was the only slasher film/series referenced in the book that I had never seen, so I figured I'd give it a watch this holiday season. It was very dumb.😆
