The 100 Greatest Overlooked Horror Movies

"There's hundreds of thousands of [horror] movies and if you don't know where to look, you're bound to miss some good ones. Because of the numerous subgenres within subgenres, the VHS boom of the 80's and the constant stream of new shit being released on a weekly basis, combing through the entire history of horror is a daunting task. This list was made to shine a light on a select few you might not have seen that [Screenage Wasteland contributing author Sailor Monsoon thinks] are worth your time."

I'm turning 40 this October!

So to make this Horrorthon extra-celebratory, I put together a list of horror movies released in 1982 that are also turning 40 this year -- then eliminated about half of them: movies I've already seen many many times (The Thing, Poltergeist, Swamp Thing); sequels in franchises I don't intend to watch this round; anything not available streaming or from the library; and the ones that looked boring/stupid, or too grindhouse for me. The end result is a solid dirty-dozen that I hope to make it through this month!
